During Monday’s episode of Raw, WWE did an injury angle on the show involving Charlotte Flair, who was attacked by Nia Jax. After the angle, WWE issued a storyline injury update that noted it’s believed she may have suffered a potential collarbone fracture.
Flair brawled with Jax before losing to Raw Women’s Champion Asuka in a title match. Later in the show, Jax attacked Flair backstage.
There are mixed reports about how long Flair will be away from WWE. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the reason Flair was written off television was due to her needing surgery.
Meltzer noted that nobody knows the time frame of when she’ll be able to return. It was hinted to him that WWE hopes she’ll be back by SummerSlam, but that’s not 100% confirmed at this time.
Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT also reported on Monday that Flair will be taking an extended break from WWE as she is getting the surgery done in addition to taking some personal time.
It was added that she will return around Royal Rumble season next year. However, if a storyline pops up before then, it could be around Survivor Series as she would be open to returning later this year.
Sources were quoted in the article by stating, “there’s a 0 percent chance Charlotte returns for SummerSlam.” Based on the second report, this could be the reason why people Meltzer spoke with weren’t sure whether Flair would be back by SummerSlam.
Up until this point, Flair has been working on all three brands – Raw, NXT, and SmackDown.
