Top WWE Star Turning Heel Soon?

If you’ve been watching WWE Raw in the last couple of months, it’s clear that a Sami Zayn heel turn is coming and last night on Raw during Zayn’s segment with Karrion Kross, it looks like the turn could come at any moment. When it happens, that may also signal the beginning of the end for Jey Uso’s title reign.

The aforementioned segment on last night’s episode of WWE Raw saw Karrion Kross escalate his psychological campaign against Sami Zayn with a direct and damning assessment of Zayn’s character. This intense backstage confrontation appeared to push Zayn closer to a potential breaking point.

Kross’s unsettling focus on Zayn had been building for weeks. On the May 5th Raw, Kross had suggested Zayn harbored a “guilty conscience” from his past association with The Bloodline. Last night, following a chaotic tag team match where Zayn and Jey Uso were again targeted by Seth Rollins’ faction, Zayn was icing his shoulder when Kross approached him. When Zayn demanded to know Kross’s issue, Kross delivered his most pointed remarks yet.

“I think you’re a liar, that’s my problem with you,” Kross stated. “I think you lied to them (talking about the fans), I think you lie to the people at home, worst of all, I think you are lying to yourself.” Kross then directly attacked Zayn’s perceived professional ceiling and moral persona: “You could’ve been a world champion ten times over if you did what you know you really had to do, because I know you’re capable of doing very terrible things to people. Sami, you’re not a good guy, you’re a bad guy, just like the rest of us.”

Sami Zayn immediately refuted Kross’s accusations, stating he was wrong. However, Kross, a persistent psychological manipulator, ended the exchange with a lingering barb: “I might be wrong, but I might be right, too.”

The seeds for a heel turn have been planted since WrestleMania when Jey was celebrating his World Title win. Sami positioned himself behind Jey and fans reacted expecting him to turn. That was no accident and now, it looks like we are closer to heel Sami and potentially Sami winning the World Heavyweight Championship. The question is, does WWE pull the trigger on the Sami vs. Jey match at SummerSlam or do they stretch things out and make this a WrestleMania match?
