Top WWE star will not be at SummerSlam as originally advertised

A couple of weeks ago, word got out about local advertising in Toronto that was hyping a match between The Undertaker and Drew McIntyre. The match makes sense since they wrestled each other in a tag team match at Extreme Rules. However, WWE said that Taker vs. McIntyre was not in the plans.

The ad still led to speculation that Taker would be on the show but, as noted on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer, Taker is not currently scheduled to be at SummerSlam.

Meltzer said, “I need to find out more because to me it makes no sense, why do you have Undertaker on Extreme Rules and not SummerSlam? You would put him on Extreme Rules to build for SummerSlam. Things can change, we still got a month. Whatever it is, they have a lineup for the show and he’s not on it.”

So there you have it. WWE’s internal line up does not include The Undertaker.

Here are the matches that have been announced so far for SummerSlam and rumored matches that are likely to be added soon:

WWE Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar (Champion) vs Seth Rollins

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (Champion) vs. Natalya

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley (Champion) vs. Ember Moon

Based on current storylines, these matches seem likely for SummerSlam:

WWE Championship
Kofi Kingston (Champion) vs. Randy Orton

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
The IIconics (Champions) vs. Kabuki Warriors

WWE United States Championship
AJ Styles (Champion) vs. Ricochet

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura (Champion) vs. Ali

Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon

Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor

The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre

Aleister Black vs. Cesaro
