We are sad to report that Tracy Smothers has passed away.
Smothers announced last December that he was diagnosed in November with Lymphoma and it was thought to be non-fatal at the time but he was having a rough time in the last couple of months.
Smothers got his start in the business in 1982 and he wrestled all over the world for many companies. Fans of WCW may remember his short run in the early 90s as part of The Southern Boys and later The Young Pistols.
He also had a stint in the World Wrestling Federation as Freddie Joe Floyd and several other promotions but his greatest success would have been in Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling where he won the SMW Heavyweight Title twice.
In the late 90s, he wrestled for ECW as part of The Full Blooded Italians comedy stable.
We send our condolences to Smothers’ family and friends during this difficult time.
