The official trailer for the new action film Afterburn has been released, starring former WWE Champion Dave Bautista and Hollywood icon Samuel L. Jackson. The film promises a post-apocalyptic adventure centered around the heist of a priceless piece of art.

The movie, based on the Red 5 comic book of the same name, is set in a world ravaged by a solar catastrophe. Bautista plays a treasure hunter tasked with a unique job, as detailed in the official synopsis:
“After a massive solar flare destroys the Earth’s eastern hemisphere, an emboldened treasure hunter for hire adventures to Europe to uncover the coveted Mona Lisa, only to learn the world needs a hero more than it needs a painting.”

Bautista continues to build one of the most successful acting careers of any former professional wrestler. He is most recognized for his role as Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He has also received critical acclaim for his roles in major films such as Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Afterburn is directed by J.J. Perry and boasts a script from Matthew Johnson. The film, which entered production in 2024, is produced by Original Film and Endurance Media. While a specific release date has not yet been announced, Black Bear Pictures is handling international distribution, and the film is expected to be released in theaters in early 2026.
