The trial date for the lawsuit between Vince McMahon and former XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck has been set.
Luck had filed a lawsuit against McMahon, the ex-owner of the XFL, for wrongful termination. It comes down to Luck thinking he was fired without cause and under the terms of his contract he is owed his pay for the remaining three years on the contract, which has a personal guarantee attached to it by McMahon.
Luck wants more than $23 million of his contract in addition to damages and attorney fees. The former head of the XFL was supposed to make $35 million.
McMahon later filed a countersuit for nearly $600,000. McMahon states that Luck abandoned his job when the pandemic hit and signed Antonio Callaway. This player signing defied McMahon’s edict that he wanted players who are “quality football players with good character.” Callaway had a history of being out of the NFL over a substance-abuse violation and a prior suspension due to credit card fraud.
Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the lawsuit is set to go to trial on October 8th and pointed out how most likely the cases will be settled prior to that date.
