Trick Williams: “I’ve Been Ready To Make That Jump To The Red Or Blue Brand For A Long Time”

In a recent interview on the Hall of Fame podcast, Trick Williams about his desire to move to either Raw or SmackDown. His comments come during a run that has seen him become one of the most popular stars in NXT and a crossover champion in TNA, making him a prime candidate for a main roster debut.

While discussing his future, Williams made it clear that he feels he is already prepared to make the jump. “Yesterday could have been soon enough man. I’ve been ready to make that jump to the red or blue brand for a long time. I feel like it’s that time, I feel like it’s been that time,” Williams said. “I feel like people wanna see that. But as for now, wherever I am, I’m just gonna make sure it’s the hottest show.”

His confidence is backed by incredible growth and success. After splitting from his long-time partner Carmelo Hayes, Williams started on a singles run that has seen him capture the NXT North American Championship once and the NXT Championship on two separate occasions. His organic rise in popularity, fueled by his “Whoop That Trick” catchphrase, made him a top star of the brand.

In late 2023, Williams broke out on his own, winning the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline to earn a shot at the NXT Championship. Though he was unsuccessful in his first attempt, he eventually captured the brand’s top title at Spring Breakin’ in April 2024. He later went over Joe Hendry at NXT Battleground to win the TNA World Championship, becoming the first-ever WWE-contracted wrestler to hold TNA’s top title.

On August 15 at Emergence, Williams successfully defended the title against Moose. A TNA invasion stopped his winner-takes-all match with NXT Champion Oba Femi on Tuesday.
