Trick Williams is one of the featured names in the third season of WWE Unreal, and he says viewers will not find much daylight between the character and the person playing him.
Speaking to SI’s The Takedown, the United States Champion pointed to his own name to explain it.
“My birth name is Matrick. So Trick is just a piece of who Matrick is, you know what I mean? And that’s almost exactly what Unreal will show you,” Williams said. “Trick is inside of Matrick, and it’s not something that’s polar opposite. This really just gives you an opportunity to see exactly who Trick is and things that you wouldn’t be able to see on Friday nights or on Monday Night Raw.”
That, he said, is why the docuseries cameras have never bothered him.
“I welcome all the cameras, everything that gets to show you who Trick Williams is,” Williams said. “Because man, I’m just as interesting on TV, off TV, anywhere I go. It’s the same man or more.”
WWE Unreal, the Netflix series that goes inside WWE’s writers’ room and behind the scenes, premiered its third season on July 21. Williams is coming off a stretch that has taken him from NXT to a TNA World Championship run to the United States Championship on the main roster.
