As noted earlier, John Cena lost his last match via submission to Gunther in the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event tonight in Washington, D.C. Gunther secured the victory with a sleeper hold, forcing Cena to tap out.
Following the match, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Stephanie McMahon, WWE officials, and backstage crew members entered the ring. The crowd booed Levesque and chanted “You f***ed up.”
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk entered the ring and spoke to Cena. Both champions placed their title belts on Cena’s shoulders. Loud boos were directed at Levesque when he entered the ring.
While this event marked Cena’s final match, he has signed a five-year ambassador contract with WWE. He remains with the company and will appear periodically in that capacity.
