As noted earlier, WWE’s Head of Creative Triple H was interviewed by Ariel Helwani for BT Sport.
Triple H covered many topics, including Vince McMahon’s exit from WWE, Brock Lesnar, the changes made to NXT within the last year, AEW and a lot more.
On Sasha Banks, he said, “Time will tell. I think in a lot of ways communication breakdowns are terrible and there’s a communication breakdown there, for whatever reason. Starting back up that communication is not a difficult process but it can be a process, right and you have to go through the process. She’s an unbelievably talented young woman that can do just about anything she wants. It just comes down to what does she want to do now with her life, her career, whatever that is. The passion clearly for what we do, there’s a passion for other things as well. It comes down to what does she want to do? It’s gotta be right for her, gotta be right for everybody.” He put her over as an unbelievable performer and one of the biggest stars in the business.
On Braun Strowman. “We’ll see. He’s like a polarizing person a little bit in the business but for a guy his size and what he brings to the table, is an amazing athlete.” He also talked about the first time he met him at the Performance Center several years ago and he loved his larger-than-life personality. He added, “If this is what he wants to do at the highest of levels, then I would like nothing more than to give him another shot.”
On Bray Wyatt: “One of the most – I mean this is the best way possible – crazy creative people I’ve ever been around. His mind just never stops thinking of creative but it’s like being in a whirlwind of stuff so without the harness, and without somebody to point the tornado it’s just all over the place. He’s a victim of his own mind and his creative and it’s just everywhere but I love working with him.”
He talked about seeing him create the Bray Wyatt character and he doesn’t know where some of the concepts come from but they are “wonderfully crazy.”
Helwani asked if that was a “yes” or a “no” on Wyatt returning. Hunter said, “Neither. I think it should be clear that to me I see the talents. Sometimes those talents are difficult to work with…I’ve always gone by the mantra that if somebody says to me, ‘that guy is an assh*le,’ but yea, he’s my assh*ole. Somebody can be difficult to work with but that’s kind of the fun of it. Let’s go.”
Hunter said everyone has their quirks and “point and click” is boring and he wants to work with creative people.
On The Rock at WrestleMania, he said that Rock is maybe the most recognizable person on the planet and he’s busy and things can come up. He confirmed that he and Rock were going to wrestle at WrestleMania a few years ago but plans changed. He said that time is ticking but it depends on The Rock and the platform is there for him if he wants it.
