WWE and NBCUniversal officially announced today that they’ve agreed to a new multi-year deal that will keep NXT on USA Network and see the weekly television show move from Wednesday to Tuesday nights beginning April 13.
In an interview with Variety, Paul Levesque aka Triple H, commented on the move.
“We now feel like we’re in a good place where we can move that consistent fanbase over to Tuesdays. We believe they’ll follow us. That way we can grow the brand more given the lead-in from ‘Monday Night Raw,’ which we’ve seen in the past,” Levesque stated.
The reason for the change is due to NBC Sports Network shutting down later this year and Wednesday NHL games moving to the USA Network.
The Wednesday Night Wars between NXT and AEW Dynamite is coming to an end. Dynamite and NXT will go unopposed of each other starting next month, but NXT will still face competition from AEW Dark, which airs on YouTube in addition to NWA Power on FITE.
