It’s no secret that WWE NXT dealt with a COVID-19 outbreak over the last week, which caused some changes being made to the lineup of Wednesday’s NXT.
It appears the outbreak may have started when wrestlers were doing ring crew work last Thursday. Dexter Lumis vs. Austin Theory, LA Knight’s NXT in-ring debut, and an appearance by NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin were advertised in advance and did take place.
Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher vs. Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner and Leon Ruff vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott were announced in advance, but Thatcher, Ruff, and Scott didn’t appear.
It turns out that Triple H not only missed Monday’s Raw TV event but also Wednesday’s NXT. There’s no word yet as to why he missed the shows. Dave Meltzer had this to say on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio:
“Paul Levesque was not there, and he wasn’t at Raw on Monday. So that could be…I mean, not everyone tested positive, but it could also be those who were in contact with people who tested positive. Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae were not there, they played a clip of them from home. Timothy Thatcher, Alexander Wolfe, Leon Ruff and Isaiah Scott were supposed to have a match and that did not happen. Those were the names that I noticed. So that was it.”
