Last night’s episode of NXT on the WWE Network featured matches taped in Ohio as part of the Arnold Sports Festival. There were clips shown from the weekend and it looks like they will be featuring Dana Brooke a lot. That makes sense if they are planning on moving Sasha Bankas and Charlotte to the main roster. She was featured in clips from the festival and they put some time to hype her upcoming wrestling debut on NXT.
It’s no secret that WWE is looking at signing some of the top independent wrestlers for the NXT national expansion. Last night’s show featured comments from Triple H from The Arnold. He said, “To be here and to see though how much these fans already knew who these NXT Superstars were…that’s not a developmental brand anymore. That’s a brand. That’s a brand that made a massive impact here.”
The Wrestling Observer newsletter reports that ROH is making a major play to try and sign the Young Bucks. WWE tried to sign them a couple of months ago but they were politely turned down. The Bucks are in heavy demand on the independent scene. They are headed to Japan in the next few days. ROH is trying to sign as much talent as possible because they know that WWE is targeting their talent and business. As noted earlier, The Briscoes are expected in WWE by mid-summer on NXT and Samoa Joe is expected to start with WWE next month. Jimmy Jacobs is finishing up with WWE and is taking a job in creative for NXT.
ROH has booked MCU Field in Brooklyn on August 22nd. That is the day before SummerSlam. SummerSlam will be held in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.
