There is some big news coming for fans in the United Kingdom. Next month, during the WWE United Kingdom Tournament, Triple H will make an announcement about the future of the UK brand.
During an interview with the Daily Mirror, Triple H said, “While we are there at this UK event at the Royal Albert Hall, we will be making some announcements about the future of the UK Championship brand there in the UK and moving forward.”
He noted that it’s taken a little bit longer than expected to get the brand off the ground. He added, “It will be meaningful to everybody there and over there and I look forward to showcasing the UK talent to the world.”
All signs point to regular shows and TV tapings but we’ll have to wait until next month to find out for sure what he has in store for UK fans. WWE also has plans to open up Performance Center facilities in different countries so the launch of a new PC could also be part of his announcement.
The WWE UK Championship tournament will be held on June 18 and 19 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. There’s no word on when it will air on the WWE Network but my guess is that it will air a few days later on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23. Jim Ross and Nigel McGuinness called last year’s tournament. There’s no word yet on who will be calling the action this year.
