Triple H Reveals That He Came Up With Idea For Seth Rollins Injury Angle

A new clip from Season 2 of WWE Unreal, which premiered on Netflix on January 20, reveals that an injury angle from July 2025 was kept secret from nearly everyone in the company, including the match official. The scene features WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque speaking with Cody Rhodes backstage before Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the clip, Levesque informs Rhodes about the planned finish for the match between Seth Rollins and L.A. Knight, where Rollins would fake a serious knee injury. Levesque emphasized the secrecy of the angle, telling Rhodes, “I wanna smarten you up to something that nobody knows… We’re gonna do an angle tonight where Seth (Rollins) blows his knee out… We’re kayfabing this like a motherf*cker.”

Levesque listed the very small circle of people who were aware of the plan: “The only people that really know: Me, Bruce (Prichard), Ed (Koskey), Bobby Roode, Seth and LA. (Paul) Heyman knows because he was there when I came up with it. Right now, that’s it.”

Notably, the referee for the match, Jessika Carr, was deliberately left in the dark to ensure a genuine reaction. Levesque explained the sequence of events to Rhodes: “He’s down, goes to Jess (Carr), Jess gives the X, medical comes out. Legit goes to him. He’ll call an audible, which Jess will go tell L.A. Knight. Did the referee need to know? No.”

The match took place on July 12, 2025, at the State Farm Arena. As planned, Rollins appeared to blow out his knee while performing a springboard moonsault. The injury looked so convincing that it led to widespread speculation and concern among fans and industry insiders at the time.
