Paul “Triple H” Levesque thinks the match that steals SummerSlam will not be one of the ones being sold as the main event.
Asked on First Take what makes Liv Morgan a problem for IYO SKY, given the gap between them on paper, Levesque started with the champion’s challenger.
“You said it, IYO SKY. On paper, best in the world, right? And the thing about IYO is she’s so lovable. You just want to hug her, right? I think, as my kids would say, she’s so wholesome, and I think that is the truth. Fans just love her, love her demeanor, love her approach to in-ring, and she’s so damn good.”
Morgan, he said, is a different proposition entirely.
“Liv, on the other hand, is a pit bull. She’s tenacious. When she wants something, she’s going to do everything in her power to get it. Doesn’t matter if that’s championships, doesn’t matter if that’s in the ring, doesn’t matter if that’s contract-wise or in her personal life. It’s just who she is. She is a pit bull. She is tenacious.”
He conceded the technical gap and said it will not decide the match.
“Now, can she match IYO SKY in the skill set in the ring? Maybe not. But you make up that for heart. Tenacious. She just will not quit, and she will do anything, and I mean anything, to stay in the spot she is in, because she has scratched and clawed and bled and everything else, fought through injuries to get there. She’s not about to let that go away.”
Then came the prediction.
“So this is going to be a war. And you can say main events, there’s many main events in this show, right, and some incredible matchups that I think we might have never seen before or thought we were never going to get. But the thing that might steal the show and the entire weekend is IYO SKY and Liv Morgan.”
Morgan defends the Women’s World Championship against SKY at SummerSlam this weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
