A major championship match has been made for SummerSlam. On tonight’s Monday Night Raw, it was announced that new Women’s World Champion Naomi will defend her title in a Triple Threat match against former champions Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
A New Champion’s Proclamation
The segment began with Naomi making her first appearance on Raw since winning the Women’s World Championship by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase at last night’s Evolution PLE. With a new attitude, she addressed the crowd and the women’s locker room.
“They weren’t feeling the glow before, but they were feeling her now,” Naomi said. “They all thought she would cash in on Tiffany Stratton, but she warned them that nobody knew her next move, and that’s why she stood there as the champion.” She declared that she was “done with the foolishness of SmackDown” and advised the “raggedy women in the back to proceed with caution.”

Two Challengers Emerge
Naomi’s proclamation was quickly interrupted by the former champion, Rhea Ripley. Ripley informed Naomi that she wasn’t cautious. She was relentless and pissed. She had two goals at Evolution: to finally beat Iyo Sky and regain the title, but because of Naomi, she still had those goals. Now Naomi was on her list.
Iyo Sky then made her way to the ring, telling Ripley, “with respect, to get in line because she planned on taking her title back.” An argument between the three women ensued until Raw General Manager Adam Pearce came out to make a ruling.
A SummerSlam Triple Threat
Pearce praised the match between Ripley and Sky at Evolution, calling it “magic,” and then made the official announcement for the upcoming premium live event. He announced a triple-threat match for the title.
The Triple Threat match for the Women’s World Championship is now officially set for WWE SummerSlam. The event will take place on August 2nd and 3rd from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Click here for complete WWE Raw results.
