TNA World Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry made a surprising appearance at WWE WrestleMania 41 – Night 2 as the opponent for Randy Orton. Orton ultimately secured the victory in their match.
During a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Hendry discussed the timeline of when he first learned about this unexpected opportunity. For more on that, click here.
Aleister Black and Rusev were heavily speculated to be Orton’s opponent at the show. However, Fightful Select has dismissed that speculation.
Per the report, “Aleister Black wasn’t seriously considered because WWE was adamant on his return being after WrestleMania. The same with Rusev, as they had a distinct idea for the match and didn’t think it fit with him considering his future creative.”
Cory Hays of PWN and Bodyslam initially reported that Orton had picked Hendry as his opponent.
