Two top stars qualify for WWE Crown Jewel World Cup

Two more Superstars qualified for the World Cup taking place at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2nd. It was announced on Monday that John Cena would not need to qualify so he would be the first competitor.

The second competitor to qualify was Kurt Angle when he dressed up as a Conquistador to fool Baron Corbin in a battle royal that included young independent wrestlers dressed as luchadors.

On Smackdown Live, Samoa Joe put his feud with AJ Styles in the rear view window as he focused on his World Cup qualifying match against Jeff Hardy. The match was called off by the referee because Joe could not stand on his “injured” leg. So, Hardy won the match via disqualification.

The other qualifying match featured the return of the largest athlete in the world. The Big Show returned for his first match in approximately a year since leaving to get hip surgery and he took on Randy Orton. Unfortunately for him, he lost the match after a thumb to the eye and an RKO.

Rey Mysterio will face Shinsuke Nakamura next week on Smackdown 1000 in a World Cup qualifying match.

More matches should be announced in the next couple of weeks. For those of you that have asked, we haven’t heard anything about Hulk Hogan appearing on the show. The Saudi Arabian prince wanted Hogan to appear at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April so it possible that he’ll appear at Crown Jewel.
