The contract status of WWE Superstar Karrion Kross has become a topic of significant speculation, as a new report from Fightful Select indicates that he has not yet signed a new deal with the company. According to the report, Kross’s current contract is set to expire in August.
“No New Deal Has Been Signed”
The report from Sean Ross Sapp states that Fightful has spoken to “numerous talent in wrestling” who have asked Kross about his contract situation. “Those that we’ve spoken with say Kross claims to them that no new deal has been signed and that his deal is still up in August as of now,” the report reads.
This information has been consistent from multiple sources. The report adds that as of last week, Kross had told those who asked that he and his wife, Scarlett, had “not yet been approached for a new deal.” Fightful noted that they have spoken to “at least six contacts within the wrestling industry” who all received the same response from either Kross or Scarlett.
A Puzzling Situation
While Kross is reportedly telling people that no deal is in place, his presentation on WWE television sends a conflicting message. He is regularly featured on WWE programming, including a recent Premium Live Event, and the company has just released new merchandise for him. “These are usually indications that a deal is either done or expected to,” the report notes, highlighting the puzzling nature of the situation.
Internally, WWE is said to be keeping the matter “very quiet.” The Fightful report concludes that they “don’t expect Kross to spill the beans to much of anyone regarding his deal until the time is right,” suggesting that a deal could be in place and Kross is simply keeping it under wraps.
Karrion Kross is a two-time former NXT Champion. After being released in 2021, he made a surprise return to the company in August 2022. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, the report notes that there are “still creative plans for Kross and Scarlett on WWE TV.” He has been embroiled in a heated, long-running feud with Sami Zayn on Monday Night Raw.
