Iyo Sky has announced that she and WWE NXT star Naraku, formerly known as EVIL in New Japan Pro Wrestling, are married. Scroll down to see their wedding photo.
Sky posted the announcement on X on May 17 alongside wedding photos and a formal written statement. The relationship was also publicly disclosed the same day on an episode of the Japanese documentary series Jounetsu Tairiku. The announcement came during the same week Naraku made his NXT in-ring debut, defeating Lince Dorado on the May 12 episode.
“We would like to announce that NARAKU, formerly EVIL of WWE, and IYO SKY, formerly Io Shirai of WWE, are now husband and wife,” the statement read. “Having started our professional wrestling careers in Japan, we have each seen different landscapes and different skies, but from this early summer, we will be able to compete on the same stage across the ocean in WWE, becoming colleagues and comrades. We feel a deep sense of connection and joy in this.”
The statement continued: “From now on, as husband and wife, we will support each other in our daily lives, and as WWE superstars, we will share both the loneliness of darkness and the glory, pushing each other to improve and striving to shine even brighter. We will never forget our gratitude to all the fans and those involved who have supported and guided us so far, and we intend to push forward together towards even greater heights.”
Tokyo Sports had previously reported the couple’s engagement back in 2015, making theirs a relationship that developed quietly over more than a decade in the Japanese wrestling scene before both eventually made their way to WWE.
Naraku, who spent 15 years in NJPW as EVIL, signed with WWE in April 2026 and was assigned to the NXT brand. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, IWGP Intercontinental Champion, and four-time NEVER Openweight Champion. He has publicly set his sights on NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo.
Iyo Sky, whose real name is Io Shirai, joined WWE in 2018 and spent four years on NXT before being called up to the main roster. She is a former WWE Women’s World Champion, having cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on Bianca Belair at SummerSlam 2023. She currently competes on Raw and is one of the brand’s most established women’s division stars.
If Naraku were to win the NXT Championship, the two would join Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch as the only married couple in WWE history to both hold the NXT Championship and NXT Women’s Championship.
