The Undertaker: Bray Wyatt “Was In That Category Of Being Undertaker-esque”

In the history of professional wrestling, there has only ever been one Undertaker. The legendary “Phenom” created a character that was so unique and likable by fans that it is unlikely to ever be replicated. However, in a new interview, The Undertaker himself has revealed the one superstar who he believes came the closest to capturing that same “Undertaker-esque” magic: the late, great Bray Wyatt.

While speaking on the “Nightcap” show, The Undertaker was asked if there is anyone in wrestling today who reminds him of himself. He explained that while he sees a lot of potential in the current generation of stars, it is difficult to find someone with a character that is similar to his own. He then singled out Bray Wyatt as the one who came the closest to that dark and captivating persona.

“I see a lot of people coming up who have the potential to be stars. Whether their characters are similar to mine or not—it’s tough to say,” The Undertaker said. “I guess the closest within the past few years was obviously Bray Wyatt. Yeah, we lost him, but he was in that category of being Undertaker-esque. I don’t know that anybody else has really honed in there yet, but we have a lot of young talent coming up, and they’ll probably be debuting really soon because of the machine again.”

The sudden passing of Bray Wyatt at the age of 36 in August 2023 was a tragedy that shocked the entire wrestling world, and The Undertaker was one of the many who was deeply affected by the loss. In the years before his passing, “The Deadman” had been a vocal supporter of Wyatt, often praising his creativity and his commitment to his character. He had stated several times that he was a “massive fan” of Wyatt and was always interested in what he was doing on WWE television.

The full interview with The Undertaker, where he also discusses his own career and the current WWE product, can be seen on the “Nightcap” show.
