The Undertaker Calls Infamous Saudi Arabia Tag Match A “Train Wreck”

The Undertaker did not mince words when reflecting on the infamous tag team match that pitted The Brothers of Destruction against D-Generation X at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in 2018. The WWE Hall of Famer called the match a “train wreck” and recalled the series of unfortunate events that led to the bout falling apart.

Running It Back In Saudi

The match, which was Shawn Michaels’ first and only match after an eight-year retirement, is widely regarded by fans as a critical failure. On his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker joked with Michaels that they needed to “run it back in Saudi” to redeem themselves.

“Train Wreck”

The Undertaker then looked back on the match, listing the things that went wrong, including Triple H tearing his pectoral muscle early on and Kane’s mask accidentally coming off.

“I was like, there’s another thing that’s been bothering me and I think we have to correct it. We got to redeem ourselves, man, we got to run it back in Saudi… Look, if you ever thought you could, wheels fell off, and then it got ugly… Could it have gone any worse? But now, obviously it bothered us all that night, especially you, because you’re the one that had to make the decision… You coming back to the curtain? ‘Miss by missed me that much.’ I was like, ‘Well, he didn’t jump out as far as he used to jump out.’ Kane losing the mask. Paul rips his back, yeah. I mean, there was just, oh my gosh, you talk about a train wreck of any match you could ever think… But it, of course, you know, it bothered me that night and for a while, but now it’s almost like. Right? It’s funny, and it’s a great story to tell, because there’s no one that would ever believe that those four guys, for sure, would have such a cluster.”

The Crown Jewel 2018 event remains a polarizing show in WWE history. For Shawn Michaels, it was his final in-ring performance, as he has remained retired ever since.
