Multi-time women’s champion Charlotte Flair was the latest guest on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, where she opened up on a wide range of topics with The Undertaker and Michelle McCool. The conversation covered The Undertaker turning down a famous magazine shoot, the personal meanings behind Flair’s tattoos, and the WWE storyline she struggled with the most.
The discussion began with The Undertaker revealing that his wife, Michelle McCool, had tried hard to convince him to pose for ESPN’s Body Issue years ago, an offer he ultimately refused in order to protect his iconic character. “People think I get everything because of him. The one thing I asked him for, he shot down hard,” McCool said. The Undertaker confirmed, stating simply, “My character. That’s all I have.”
A Story Told in Tattoos
Flair then spoke about her own tattoos, revealing she has around ten, most of which have deep personal meanings. She detailed the tribute tattoo on her side for her late brother, Reid Flair. “The most important one is my parents didn’t like tattoos, so Reed went and got the Guns N’ Roses, Appetite of Destruction… cross,” she explained. “So when he passed that week, we all went and got it. Except mine says ‘Reider,’ because that’s what I called him.”
She also revealed she has a tattoo of a Bible verse, Proverbs 4:23, which reads “Guard your heart.” McCool was stunned by the coincidence, replying, “I have that sign in our garage, a neon sign, so that my kids see it every time I pull in the garage… I need y’all to remember every time we pull in here, guard your heart.”
Storyline Struggles and John Cena’s Advice
When asked if she had ever turned down a creative idea, Flair said she hadn’t, but admitted to having a difficult time with one particular storyline involving her father, Ric Flair, and Lacey Evans. “I had one thing I was struggling with… my dad and the Lacey stuff, I kind of struggled,” she confessed. “I wish I would have approached it differently from an entertainer standpoint. I will take credit for that, but I did kind of… I handled it wrong.”
The conversation about using real-life elements in storylines prompted Flair to share some valuable advice she received from John Cena. “[He] gave me the best advice… he was basically saying, anything that’s ever happened to you in life, you have to own,” Flair recalled. “Nothing can be taken away from you if you were just present in your power… say, if personal life does get brought up, so like, own it, it takes the power away.” Flair said the advice “resonated with me so much” and helped her think about things differently.
After being sidelined with a major knee injury for over a year, Charlotte Flair made her return to WWE at the 2025 Royal Rumble, winning the match for a second time. Since her return, Flair has been a prominent figure on WWE programming, challenging for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 41. She is currently involved in a tag team storyline with Alexa Bliss on Friday Night SmackDown.
