WrestlingNews.co has learned that Meghan Walker, a sprinter from the University of Nebraska’s track and field team and a member of WWE’s “Next In Line” (NIL) class, was a participant at the WWE talent tryouts held during SummerSlam week in the New York/New Jersey area. We were told by a WWE source that there are people in the company who believe she has potential to become a big star for the company.
Athletic Background
Before joining WWE’s NIL program, Walker was a two-time South Dakota state champion in high school track and field. After graduating, she joined the University of Nebraska’s program, where she has competed in the 200m and 400m events, both as an individual and as a member of relay teams at the Big Ten Championships.
The “Next In Line” Program
Walker’s journey to WWE was formalized when she was signed as part of the company’s fifth “Next In Line” (Name, Image, and Likeness) class. The program, launched in 2021, is designed to recruit collegiate athletes and provide them with a pathway to potentially becoming a full-time WWE performer by offering resources and training access.
The Path to WWE
WWE holds talent tryouts during its major event weeks, such as SummerSlam, to evaluate athletes from various sporting backgrounds. Walker has previously made her WWE aspirations public on social media, posting about her goal of one day becoming a WWE Women’s Champion. Her participation in this week’s tryouts is a key part of that process.

A successful tryout for an athlete in the NIL program could lead to a WWE developmental contract and a full-time assignment to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This is the facility where all new recruits begin their in-ring training before a potential debut on the NXT brand.
