As noted, Batista was reportedly backstage at last week’s SmackDown TV tapings in Tampa, FL and was pitched an idea for WrestleMania by Vince McMahon. McMahon wanted Batista to appear at WrestleMania 32 as a special guest referee for the Triple H – Roman Reigns WWE Title Match.
Batista reportedly turned down the idea that was pitched but is still open to appearing at the event if creative comes up with a new idea. It’s being reported that Batista is preferring to be part of storylines instead of a non-wrestling role.
WWE has been in talks with Shawn Michaels about him being the special guest referee for the WWE Title match.
