Update on CM Punk and AJ Lee; other news

Yesterday there was a report on PWInsider.com that rumors were spreading over the weekend among the wrestlers that CM Punk was granted his official release from the company. Well apparently the reason those rumors started was because AJ Lee was given the weekend off and was also given the day off for Monday’s Raw as well so some assumed that she also quit the company.

So, to clarify, CM Punk has not been released from his WWE deal. It would make sense for WWE to let his contract expire rather than allow their number 2 merchandise seller to potentially work for another company.

The talk at last night’s Raw was about AJ being given the night off and there was also talk after the show about the lack of hype for next week’s show especially since next week’s show is scheduled to have the big returns of The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. I haven’t heard of any changes in plans but I could see the company deciding to hold off those two returns for the March 3rd Raw in Chicago. That would help get the attention away from Punk and the crowd would likely not turn on two major return legends. Again, I am just speculating. As far as I know the plan is still to have Taker and Hogan return next week. It’s just baffling to think that they made no mention of it on Raw considering the fact that they would want a huge audience next week to help kick start the WWE Network.
