As many of you already know, Daniel Bryan did not make the trip to Saudi Arabia this past weekend to participate in WWE’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia. Due to the current circumstances in the country, Bryan was one of two Superstars (the other being John Cena) who refused to work the show.
His match with AJ Styles for the WWE Title instead happened on SmackDown Live. Bryan was replaced on the card by Samoa Joe. Immediately after Crown Jewel, WWE stars are heading to Europe for WWE’s European tour. Bryan is in Europe for the European tour.
Bryan only refused to work the Saudi Arabia show and will fulfill the rest of his obligations as planned. Dave Meltzer did note that Bryan’s decision to withdraw from Crown Jewel did not have to do with women not being allowed to compete on the card. Instead, once Bryan learned of the country’s treatment of homosexuals, and Sami Zayn being unable to perform at Greatest Royal Rumble due to his Syrian descent, which he felt was racist, he made his decision.
