Earlier this week it was revealed that former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Drew McIntyre is currently out of action after undergoing an operation to repair a lingering injury.
The timing for the surgery is over the belief to get it done in order for him to be ready for the road to WrestleMania 36 season.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the minor surgery was not bone or muscle related. It was also noted that McIntyre was sick for a few weeks but pushed on with his WWE commitments.
His last match came on the August 26th episode of Raw where he dropped a loss to Ricochet as part of the King of the Ring tournament. He was so sick that day that he could barely get out of bed.
He was dealing with the flu at the time but worked through it. Once he returned from Mexico last week, WWE officials told McIntyre to see a doctor. This is when the doctor diagnosed him and ordered him into surgery just three hours later.
There’s no exact word on when he’ll return to action but it was noted that he will make a return as soon as WWE doctors clear him.
The hope is that he’ll be ready to go as soon as next week’s post-Clash of Champions TV shows.
