For those of you wondering about John Cena at WrestleMania, we reported several weeks ago that he would be in New York City and he is expected to be on the show.
However, you might be disappointed if you were expecting WWE to have Cena step in to replace Baron Corbin as Kurt Angle’s last minute opponent.
Dave Meltzer reported today that there is a deal on the table for John Cena and it’s for a match at WrestleMania. There is no word on who his opponent will be but it is not Kurt Angle and it’s expected that Cena will accept the deal. Cena has been filming a movie in Canada but the production is wrapping up just in time for WrestleMania.
For whatever it’s worth, WWE has been teasing that someone will interrupt Elias during his musical performance so that is a possibility but it would make more sense for Cena to go up against a top tier wrestler.
Back in January, the plan was for Cena to start a feud with Lars Sullivan. The idea was that Sullivan would attack Cena before the Royal Rumble and Cena would return at a later date to set up the match for WrestleMania. Instead, Sullivan flew home after suffering an anxiety attack. I was told a couple of weeks ago that Sullivan is ready to return. The company has been very understanding of his situation.
