Update on Johnny Gargano as his WWE contract is set to expire

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE wants to keep Johnny Gargano.

Gargano’s contract is set to expire on December 3rd but WWE is pushing hard to sign him to a new deal. Meltzer said that the company has made a very strong offer to convince him to stay with the company for a long time.

Obviously, he would be someone who AEW would have an interest in and he has a lot of friends there but he also has a lot of friends in WWE and he’s a favorite of Shawn Michaels so it’s not a lock that he will leave WWE.

There is no word on what direction Gargano is leaning in but unlike many of the releases this year, it looks like the company sees a lot of value in keeping him.

Kyle O’Reilly’s contract is also up next month. There’s no word on what his plans are but if he jumps to AEW, it would not be a shock to see him re-join Adam Cole and Bobby Fish.
