Luke Harper's return to WWE TV almost didn't happen.
In fact, as Dave Meltzer reported this week, he was at the Performance Center in Orlando a few weeks ago but it was not directly related to his return to TV.
Harper suffered a neck injury while he was out of action so that is why he looks to have dropped some size since the last time we saw him.
Meltzer noted that Harper didn't know he was returning at Clash of Champions until two days before it happened. They brought him back because they needed a tag team partner for Erick Rowan. Haper and Rowan will face Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
I was told that Harper has not signed a new WWE contract so there's a chance (maybe a good chance) that he will be leaving the company in a few months. He has friends in AEW so he would be welcomed there.
Last week, Harper took to Instagram to vent about merchandise not being made for him, despite the fact that he has been with the company for over 7 years. He wrote, "Larry, In over 7 years with @wwe I've never had a single Luke Harper tshirt but now all 155 NXT wrestlers each get their own. Got it…"
In the comments section, Harper said that WWE took a design from his friend for a Wyatt family shirt a few years ago.
