As noted a couple of days ago, Rusev seemingly responded to reports on his disappearance from WWE television. Dave Meltzer reported that Rusev asked for time off.
Rusev indirectly addressed the report on Twitter by saying that the “dirt sheets” were fed wrong information.
You have been fed the wrong information, Dirt sheets.

On Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Rusev did indeed ask for time off and that is why fans have not seen much of him on WWE TV. He was a minor league baseball game on Tuesday night when SmackDown Live was on.
Meltzer said, “He went home. He asked for time off. It’s not like he stormed off…He asked for time off, he was granted time off. I think you can read between the lines on that. He asked for time off so he’s not around right now. I’m not sure when he’s coming back.”
I was able to independently confirm this with a WWE source.
For what it’s worth, Rusev was asked on Twitter if he’s frustrated because seeing Shane McMahon featured so much on TV. You can see his reply below.
I’m not. It’s normal. He is the bosses son. https://t.co/kbkEUTqAPL
