There is an update on Sami Zayn in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Although Zayn has wrestled on a couple of live events this year, they have been in tag matches to protect him. There was talk recently that it was a creative decision to keep him off TV after he was dealing with shoulder issues.
While creative may be a factor, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Zayn is still bothered by shoulder problems and that is one of the key reasons why he wrestles so little and why he is in a manager role.
Last month, Zayn wrestled in a couple of 6-man tag matches with Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura as his partners against Braun Strowman and The New Day. I was told that he did not do much in those matches.
He also wrestled on a few live events towards the end of 2019 but he hasn’t wrestled a full-time schedule in a long time.
