On Tuesday morning’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on TNA’s situation and the story that was reported on Saturday by the New York Post regarding rumors of recent bids put in by WWE and Sinclair Broadcasting. Most people who are close to the story do not believe that there’s anything to the Sinclair rumor. There’s no real offer from WWE but if TNA goes under then they’d like come in to buy the tape library.
There is a second party that is interested and there are non-disclosure agreements that have been signed to keep the talks quiet. Aroluxe Marketing had until 9/1 to get a deal together and that didn’t happen so it seems less likely that they will be the ones to buy TNA. Billy Corgan, as everyone knows, is still in the process of trying to make a deal happen so he can own the company. It’s unknown if the second party has put in an official bid but they are definitely looking at TNA. Just to be clear, the second party is not Aroluxe Marketing.
As noted over the weekend, it’s very important for TNA to get a deal done by 10/2 because that’s when they need to tape their next set of TV shows and they need funding.
