Update on The Undertaker’s opponent for WWE WrestleMania 36

On Thursday, WrestleZone broke the news on a huge first-time-ever match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles for WWE WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Florida.

Dave Meltzer later confirmed that Taker vs. Styles is indeed planned for WrestleMania and I was told that Styles was picked by Taker because he feels that Styles is the modern-day Shawn Michaels.

Taker wrestled twice in 2019. He defeated Goldberg in at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia last June and he teamed with Roman Reigns to beat Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon at Extreme Rules in July. He did not wrestle at WrestleMania 35.

Styles has been out of action since suffering a shoulder injury in the Men’s Royal Rumble match but he’s advertised to wrestle at Super ShowDown on February 29 and he’s expected to be fine for WrestleMania.

There’s already been talk about doing something special for Survivor Series since that will mark 30 years since he debuted in the company so it’s likely that he will wrestle again after WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 36 will take place at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5.
