Update on the WWE future for Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton

The recent announcer shake-up has left a few people out in the cold on the main WWE television shows.

The decision to move Michael Cole and Corey Graves to Friday Night SmackDown had fans wondering what the future would be for Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton.

For now, it looks like Saxton will be calling matches for WWE Main Event. On Instagram, he posted a photo of himself with Mickie James and Dio Maddin. James has been calling Main Event matches in recent weeks and there’s been talk of her taking on a backstage role as a coach.

Meanwhile, Tom Phillips has been moved to 205 Live. He called this week’s show on the WWE Network with Aiden English and he will also be calling the NXT UK show with Nigel McGuinness.

There have been talks to launch a third hour of live programming on Fox Sports 1 after Friday Night SmackDown and I was told that Phillips and Saxton have been considered if a deal is made for that third hour.

In other news, Mickie James recently posted about the debut of NWA Powerrr and specifically about her husband Nick Aldis representing the company as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

James noted that her first memories of wrestling were when she watched the NWA with her father.
