A couple of weeks ago, it was reported in the LA Times that Los Angeles was the frontrunner to get WrestleMania 37 in 2021.
Nothing has been officially announced by WWE and an announcement is not likely until the end of this year or early next year but it looks like Los Angeles is a lock to get it. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE would prefer for WrestleMania in Los Angeles to happen in 2022 but the city wants them there in 2021 because they are looking at WrestleMania as basically a trial run before the Super Bowl in February 2022. Meltzer added that it’s looking like Los Angeles will get what they want.
WrestleMania would take place at the new Hollywood Park and they would probably announce a new attendance record since the stadium can hold more than 100,000 fans for a wrestling event.
For those of you unaware, the number that is announced on TV is usually not the real number. WWE has admitted in their financial filings that the announced number is for “entertainment purposes.” The real number for Los Angeles would probably be somewhere around 80,000 to 90,000 but still impressive for any sports or entertainment event.
