Velveteen Dream (Patrick Clark) Demands Apology, Pushes For WWE Return

Patrick Clark, known to WWE fans as Velveteen Dream, took to Instagram to demand apologies and campaign for a return to the company. His posts were in response to news surrounding Mike Droese’s recent indictment.

Clark stated, “People Guilty of Child Crimes Don’t Get to Walk Around Free.” He then demanded apologies from those who criticized him following accusations of inappropriate conduct in 2020: “A LOT OF YOU OWE ME AN APOLOGY FOR DRAGGING ME THROUGH THE MUD. FIVE YEARS LATER HERE I STAND STILL FREE AND WITHOUT A SINGLE CHARGE… IT’S VERY HARD FOR PEOPLE TO ADMIT WHEN THEY WERE WRONG AND MALICIOUS.”

Dream was released by WWE in 2021 after he was accused of having inappropriate contact with minors in 2020. Clark denied the allegations at the time, stating he did not communicate inappropriately with anyone and claimed a private photo of his had been shared without his consent.

WWE conducted an internal investigation into the matter, and Triple H stated that WWE had looked into the allegations and “didn’t find anything. At least one accuser later stated WWE never contacted them as part of the investigation.

The former NXT North American Champion urged fans to lobby WWE management for his comeback. “IF YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME, THE BOSSES (Triple H/HBK) PAY ATTENTION TO SOCIAL MEDIA… #WeWantTheDREAM AND SPAM @TripleH @WWE. THEY WILL HEAR YOU! WE CAN MAKE ENOUGH NOISE TO DROWN OUT THE LIES AND THE HATE.“

There were also reports that Clark had backstage heat with several people in NXT due to his behavior. Dream was also accused of filming fellow wrestlers in the bathroom without their consent, in addition to his arrests, accusations of recklessness in matches, wellness violations, and other issues.

Since leaving WWE, Clark has worked a handful of independent matches.
