WWE superstars Seth Rollins and CM Punk engaged in a heated verbal confrontation on Monday Night Raw’s final USA Network broadcast. Punk vs. Rollins is scheduled for the first Raw on Netflix next Monday night.
The heated exchange was punctuated by personal attacks and references to past controversies. Rollins accused Punk of abandoning his fanbase, saying, “You took your ball and went home!” Punk retorted by criticizing Rollins for his loyalty to WWE management, stating, “I left WWE because I hated the guy in charge, who loved you.” Obviously, the guy in charge at the time would have been Vince McMahon.
The war of words escalated with Rollins bringing up Punk’s infamous podcast with Colt Cabana following his 2014 WWE exit and his subsequent time in AEW, asking, “How did that work out?” Punk responded by saying, “You betrayed Roman Reigns and played victim for years in a situation you created.”
Rollins called Punk a “cancer” that needs to be removed, declaring, “The only way to defeat cancer is to cut it out.” The interview was a mix of work and shoot since it plays off the fact that Punk ripped on WWE for years when he was away from the company.
