The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, are the guests on the latest Edge and Christian Pod Of Awesomeness. It’s always been said that Vince McMahon doesn’t keep tabs on what is going on outside of WWE but apparently, he knows enough about The Young Bucks because he reached out to them during WrestleMania weekend prior to their match at Supercard Of Honor XI with Matt and Jeff Hardy.
Matt Jackson tells the story of what happened. “We got there a little early because we were excited and we were in the ring kind of fooling around with the ladders and making all of these contraptions and stuff and [Matt Hardy] shows up and he gets these big eyes and he’s like – I could tell that he was already kind of worried.” He added, “[Matt Hardy] comes up to the ring and he’s like, ‘Vince McMahon called me this morning and said, ‘hey I know these Young Buck kids are good, but could you please tell them to take care of you guys?’ So he’s pretty much passing down word to us.”
They talked about the insane spots they did during that match. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured because that would have been a huge disaster for the Raw Tag Team Championship match plans at WrestleMania.
Although most fans knew that The Hardys were headed to WWE, very few people were told about the plans for them to be added to the Raw Tag Team Championship match. In fact, as Karl Anderson noted in a recent interview, the participants in the match did not know until a couple of hours before the match happened. The Bucks obviously knew as they were going into their match at Supercard Of Honor but no one else in ROH had a clue. “We’re two of the few guys in the world that actually knew about it. Nobody else in Ring Of Honor that night knew about it except us. So we were like, ‘we can’t hurt these guys.’ What would that look like on us?'” That was definitely weighing on our hearts. We were like ‘we gotta take care of these guys.’ They’ve got a big night tomorrow.”
It’s a great interview. They also talk about who some of their dream opponents would be, getting ribbed by Edge at a live event, the IndyTaker, the creation of the Meltzer Driver and much more. You can listen now by subscribing (it’s free) to the E & C podcast via iTunes by clicking here.
