The New Day is one of the most popular acts in WWE. In July, they will celebrate 5 years together as a team. However, if Vince McMahon decides to go forward with his new idea then we might not see them together for much longer.
On a recent audio show on F4WOnline.com, Bryan Alvarez said that Vince McMahon is thinking about making a change to the group.
Alvarez said, “Vince is back thinking about switching up the New Day again. He thought about it a year ago and did nothing. Now he’s thinking about it again. The act has been the same for years and years and years. There could be some changes for The New Day in 2019.”
Alvarez pointed out that McMahon switches back and forth on his ideas so whatever idea he has in his mind could be delayed or never implemented simply because he changed his mind. Alvarez said, “Just remember that this is Vince and he changes his mind on a daily basis but last week he was thinking about doing something different with The New Day.”
Several months ago, Big E and Xavier Woods were lobbying for Kofi Kingston to get a big singles push but nothing came out of that. If the group breaks up, it seems most likely that the biggest push would go to Big E. There had been talk of giving him a monster push several years ago.
If they decide to break them up then it certainly would fall in line with WWE’s promise to shake things up as the company tries to freshen up the product in 2019.
