Two of WWE’s biggest draws are expected to return in time for WrestleMania season.
Ronda Rousey, who hasn’t been seen on WWE television since losing to Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in the main event of WrestleMania 35, is expected to return to the ring in a few months. Dave Meltzer first reported this in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Dave Meltzer’s report is backed up by the fact that Rousey has been training in the wrestling ring again.
Rousey stepped away from the ring because she wanted to start a family with husband Travis Browne but she has not said much about when she would be returning to the ring. WWE has also been quiet in regards to when fans might see her in the ring again.
A WWE source told us that things are still on track for Rousey vs. Becky Lynch in a singles match at WrestleMania and that match could end up being the main event.
A WWE source told us, “Vince is hoping for Becky to be back in January or February to start the one on one feud with Ronda.”
Lynch is due to give birth in December and it up to her to let WWE know when she is ready to return to kick off her WrestleMania storyline. Another thing that was noted to us is that Vince McMahon is adamant about getting fans into the stadium for WrestleMania.
“Vince wants WrestleMania to be the show that says ‘WWE is back,'” according to the same source. “We can’t do Becky vs. Ronda in the Thunderdome with no fans. He wants the fans back and they will be back by the time Mania rolls around.”
On Friday evening, former Impact Wrestling star James Storm posted a photo of himself with Rousey and Browne after a training session.
Big thanks to @rondarousey & @travisbrownemma for the invite to do a little wrestling around. I’ve met a lot of people that come from different sports but none besides @therealkurtangle that have the respect for pro wrestling like she does. pic.twitter.com/i0vjd5vQI2
