Vince McMahon is moving a top WWE NXT star to the main roster

NXT is about to lose one of their top stars.

Dave Meltzer reported today that Matt Riddle’s WWE main roster debut is imminent so he could appear on Raw or SmackDown any day now.

Riddle is scheduled to wrestle Timothy Thatcher in a cage match this Wednesday night on NXT with Kurt Angle as the special referee. That could be his last match on the brand.

Riddle has had heat with wrestlers in NXT and with Brock Lesnar but Triple H is said to be a big fan of him. Last November, I noted that Vince McMahon had his eye on two NXT stars…Keith Lee and Riddle.

I was told the following about Riddle last November from a WWE source: “Vince like guys like Shawn who have that rebel mentality and he sees some of Shawn in Matt. Matt can rub some people the wrong way but he’s a good guy and he will do great when Vince calls him up. I think he’s a future world champion. Vince will try to tweak him but his personality will get him far.”

Riddle’s move to the main roster comes at a time when WWE is looking for more top stars to help boost their TV ratings as viewership has dropped during the pandemic.
