Vince McMahon is not ruling out holding another event in Saudi Arabia this year

Because of the agreement that WWE has as part of its 10-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority, the company is paid big money to host two events in the country a year.

Back in February, WWE held its Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the Mohammed Abdou Arena.

At the time, it was reported that WWE was looking at returning in late October or early November. A return date of Thursday, August 20 was pitched at one point in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but that was nixed due to WWE holding SummerSlam that same weekend.

With the world dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been some speculation as to whether WWE will try to hold another event in the country.

This is something that Vince McMahon was asked about during WWE’s annual shareholder meeting that took place earlier this month.  According to the WWE Chairman and CEO, it’s still a possibility.

“Oh, that’s a possibility. Obviously, Saudi has been going through what we in America have been going through. As far as COVID’S concerned. Right now, I think they’re doing a little bit better than we are [in the U.S.], considerably better. So there’s a possibility that we’ll still get a show in before the end of the year, as was scheduled. But we’re not certain because, you know, who can be certain about what COVID-19 is going to do.”
