In professional wrestling, the old saying is “never say never” in regards to bringing back wrestlers who have been on bad terms with WWE but for now, there are two men who Vince McMahon has no plans to do business with.
We previously noted that CM Punk’s agent reached out to WWE and McMahon said that he doesn’t want to do business with him. People around McMahon, including Paul Heyman, have not pushed for the idea to bring Punk back. Punk’s social media jabs against the company have probably not helped his case.
The other former WWE star who McMahon doesn’t want to do business with is Alberto Del Rio. Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Alberto’s recent claims of being in talks to return to WWE are false.
Alberto’s age and history of personal baggage work against him, which might explain why All Elite Wrestling hasn’t reached out to sign him. In Punk’s case, you can never rule out a deal being reached for a WWE return at some point just to keep him away from AEW. Meltzer noted that there might be people in AEW who emotionally would not want to do business with Punk, but time heals all wounds and business is business and there is no doubt that there is value in bringing him in even for limited dates. Unless it’s for a Hall Of Fame induction several years down the road, it doesn’t look like WWE (or AEW) are interested in Alberto.
