Vince McMahon is known to have him vs. the world mentality and did just that when he learned that fans were not thrilled with the match between Baron Corbin and Kurt Angle he booked at WrestleMania 35.
Angle lost to Baron Corbin in his farewell match at the pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium in 2019. At the time, many fans expressed their feelings about Corbin being picked. Angle has stated several times that he wanted his final opponent to be John Cena. That didn’t happen, as the WWE Chairman was high on Corbin.
Former WWE writer Dave Schilling was rewatching WrestleMania 35 and tweeting as the show went on, where he shared backstage notes.
During it, he revealed that McMahon had an interesting response when learning that fans didn’t like the Angle vs. Corbin match booking during a production meeting.
“Oh no it’s Kurt Angle Vs Baron Corbin. When it was mentioned in a production meeting that the fans hated the idea of this match, Vince laughed so hard and said ‘fuck em.’
Triple H paired JBL with Corbin up until a few weeks ago when he realized the pairing wasn’t working and they were split up.
