For one, this is the first time WWE has done TV at MSG in over a decade and there is pressure to get ratings up for SmackDown’s move to FOX. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that there was a long creative meeting on Friday and Vince McMahon wants some unique ideas for next week’s shows.
“I’ve been told they’ve been doing a Raw creative meeting all day and Vince is on everybody to be creative,” Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live.
No details have come out yet on specific ideas that have been pitched for Raw and SmackDown Live at MSG. The trend in recent weeks has been for McMahon to show up at SmackDown and rip up the script and rewrite the show just hours before going on the air. Paul Heyman has been given more creative control and he’s been able to get more of his ideas through.
For better or worse, things are changing and the pressure to make these shows interesting to fans is at an all-time high so it will be interesting to see what ideas they have for next week’s Raw and SmackDown Live in New York City.
