There were a few different tag teams split up during this year’s WWE Draft. AJ Styles and Omos were nearly one of those teams as WWE had seriously considered the idea.
WrestleVotes reported the news today. It was said that there was a plan in place to split them up until the people of power spoke up and expressed how they didn’t think Omos was ready just yet to be a singles star. This nixed the plans of breaking up the tag team.
In the Draft, Styles and Omos stayed on the Raw brand. Omos first started appearing on the main roster during Raw Underground segments. Last October, WWE paired him with the former WWE Champion. They went on to become the Raw Tag Team Champions.
Some of the teams split up in the Draft included Veer staying on Raw while Jinder Mahal and Shanky went to SmackDown, Natalya being split from Tamina as Natalya will be moving to SmackDown and Tamina to Raw. Also, the team of Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox are no longer because Nox is moving to Raw while Mace is going to SmackDown and T-Bar is staying on Raw.
WWE had plans to split up The Street Profits, but that was also nixed.
WWE had seriously considered breaking the pairing of AJ Styles & Omos during draft. To the point where that was the plan. Until people of power (including a main RAW talent) spoke up & expressed thoughts on how Omos isn’t quite ready for singles yet. And they actually listened.
