There have been no talks between CM Punk and WWE management, which means that all of the trash-talking being done by Seth Rollins has been something he’s been doing on his own.
During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Rollins acknowledged the CM Punk chants and said that Punk is sitting behind a desk in Los Angeles because he is afraid to make changes.
That was an ad-lib line by Rollins and Vince McMahon was not happy about it. As noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, McMahon was furious when he heard Rollins acknowledge Punk because Rollins is giving fans the impression that they are building towards a match when, in fact, neither Triple H or McMahon have had talks with Punk.
There is always a small chance that Rollins and McMahon were working people backstage but that is a very slim chance. If they were working, then that would mean that there’s a super-secret deal worked out with Punk. If that were the case, then it would have been smart to have him show up in Chicago.
